Valley of flowers open officially now and trek constructed between Ghangaria and Valley of Flowers.
After the floods destroyed the trek between Ghangaria and Valley of Flowers and a vital bridge was also washed off the Valley of Flowers was not accessible. The bridge was constructed in the month of July, 2014 but the work in the trek was started only in September, 2014 only. The contract for making the trek was given to the local people only. They were too much concerned about the opening of the valley of flowers. They worked very hard and made the valley accessible by September end. The forest department opened the valley for general public on 4th October, 2014 but only for 6 days, ensuring that the valley opens in 2015.
The new trek route is longer than the old one by at least a kilometer as the trek has to be rerouted from top and again coming down. About 500 meters of the old trek has been totally washed off and cannot be reconstructed as few new land slide areas has been developed. The new trek from the top of these land slide areas and will not be affected by the land slides in lower region.
Following are some of the pictures of new trek route between Ghangaria and Valley of flowers. These pictures are clicked in October 2014, by one of our associate Mr Raghuveer Chauhan who also owns a hotel at Ghangaria.
